Mystery of Re 1...

This is for all you mathematical wizards out there.

There were three best friends who won a lottery and decided to celebrate it. So, they went into a restaurant and ordered a nice dish and enjoyed the meal happily. Then they asked for the bill. So, the waiter came with the bill. The bill was for Rs. 75. So they divided it into 3 and each paid Rs. 25. The waiter took the amount and took it to cash counter. The cashier told him that by mistake he had charged Rs. 5 extra and thus returned Rs. 5 to the waiter. The waiter thought that how would they distribute Rs. 5 among three people. So, he took Rs. 2 and returned Rs. 3 to them and they took Re. 1 each.

So, the amount paid by each person is Rs. 25- Re. 1 = Rs. 24.

That is 3 people paid Rs. 24 each, i.e. total amount paid by them is 3 X 24 = Rs. 72.

Adding 2 Rs. That was took by the waiter.

So, the grand total became Rs. 72 + Rs. 2 = Rs. 74.

But they had given Rs. 75. So where has the 1 re gone????
